Amy Pritchard Bio

Amy Pritchard is a leading voice and political entrepreneur in progressive politics, democracy-building, and advocacy, with a career spanning decades of impactful work in the United States and worldwide.

In the US, Amy has worked for the Democratic National Committee as a Political Director and as a regional DCCC Political Director and collaborated with other party committees to drive electoral success and build strategic capacity nationwide. She has played pivotal roles in campaigns across nearly every state, leading voter engagement and campaign strategy efforts and advancing progressive causes such as reproductive rights, economic equity, gun control, climate change, and voting access.

 

Amy founded GAIN Power, the largest career and networking platform for Democratic democracy and progressive professionals. With its popular JobsThatAreLeft listserv, GAIN Power connects a network of over 100,000 democracy professionals. Through its career center, it supports over 5,000 organizations, offering unmatched resources for recruiting and retaining talent in the democracy, governing, advocacy, and election space. GAIN Power is also the host of The Powerful IDEA Awards and the lead organizer of RootsCamp, a premier gathering for progressive organizers from February 6-8. Amy continues to create convenings to foster networks and collaboration and celebrate innovation and leaders across the movement.

 

Amy has led democracy-building and leadership development initiatives globally in over 30 countries, working with organizations like the National Democratic Institute (NDI) to empower women candidates, youth leaders, and civil society activists. Her work spans conflict zones, emerging democracies, and transitional governments, with notable programs in Rwanda, South Sudan, DRC, Iraq, Myanmar, and Nepal. She has also supported Iranian activists in the country and diaspora leaders, advancing advocacy and capacity-building efforts over the past decade.

 

Amy co-founded the Ballot Initiative Strategy Center - a nonprofit dedicated to direct democracy and ballot measure work with progressive issue advocacy organizations and remains active with their work.

 

Amy's consulting firm, Amplify Power, provides comprehensive campaign strategies, digital and direct mail paid voter contact, and member/activist engagement solutions for candidates, advocacy organizations, unions, ballot initiatives, and party committees.  

 

Her work focuses on global women's leadership development through the nonprofit she founded, Global GAIN, and its Rwandan counterpart, Women GAIN. She is working on new plans for an expanded global democracy and women's history and leadership retreat center at Co-Kiyovu, a compound in Kigali she has developed over the past decade.

Originally from Boston, Amy graduated from American University in Washington, DC, and divides her time between Cambridge, MA, Washington, DC, and Kigali, Rwanda.
